Shopify Flow now offers better tools for searching and troubleshooting workflow runs, making it easier to understand exactly what happened at each step.
Enhanced Troubleshooting
Previously, when an action was successful, it could be difficult to see what changes were made in your shop. For example, if a workflow updated a metafield, you couldn’t easily check what value was set.
With the latest improvements, you can now view the data provided to each action, giving clearer insights into workflow execution.
For example, clicking "Step data" in the workflow details page will show the exact input an action received. If an action like Add order tag applied a "guitar2" tag to an order, you’ll be able to see the order ID and the tag that was added.
Similarly, trigger data is now more accessible. Since triggers contain both the event data Flow receives (such as an order ID) and the data queried to run the workflow, this can help diagnose unexpected behaviour.
Improved Search in Workflow Runs
Building on previous search improvements, Flow now lets you search any step data within workflow runs.
To use this feature:
- Open the Flow app.
- Navigate to a list of workflow runs.
- Click "Add filter" and select "Includes text" to start searching.
You can search any field available in step data, but note that searches must be text-only and exclude punctuation. For example, to find an order by ID, search "124443" instead of "gid://shopify/Order/124443".
These enhancements provide greater visibility into workflow execution, making it easier to debug issues and refine automations in Shopify Flow.
